You are entitled to a life free from abuse.

No one deserves to be abused, it is not your fault in any way, no matter what excuses or reasons your partner may use to shift the blame for their actions on to you or someone else.

If you or your children are in danger call 999 to access immediate police support.

Reporting domestic abuse

Report a crime by calling 101.

If you are worried about losing your home or have any questions about homelessness or becoming homeless, please contact East Ayrshire Council's Housing Options office for help and advice on 01563 554400. For out of hours, please call the 24 hour emergency helpline 0345 724 0000 (local rate).

East Ayrshire Women's Aid can give advice on domestic abuse, as well as housing advice, including refuge.

Health services

You can access information about health or local healthcare by attending your local GP surgery or by visiting NHS 24.

Information on family planning and sexual health services can be found by visiting Sexual Health Ayrshire.

Legal advice

You may need to get legal advice and there are organisations such as Scottish Women's Aid, who can support you through the court process:

  • exclusion order - when your partner is not allowed in your house.
  • interdicts - gives your partner rules about contacting you or family members
  • non-harassment order - stops someone from harassing or stalking you, even if they are not your partner or ex-partner

The law is quite complex so you should speak to East Ayrshire Women's Aid, or seek legal advice.
