We have a network of public space close circuit cameras located in many of our communities throughout East Ayrshire.
The location of these cameras is determined in consultation with Police Scotland, taking account of crime and incident levels.
The presence of the cameras enhances public confidence through crime prevention. They can be used to provide evidence in the event of a crime occurring. Video from all cameras is stored digitally and retained for 31 days.
CCTV cameras are monitored 24 hours a day and 365 days per year from our purpose built Risk Management Centre staffed by fully trained employees. While the cameras are viewed constantly it is impossible to watch every camera for every minute of every day so please continue to report any crime you witness to the Police.
Radio links
Our Risk Management Centre is equipped with an airwave radio terminal which allows police officers on the street to contact the centre to advise of ongoing incidents.
In addition, the centre also has access to the Kilmarnock Town Centre Retail Link. This is a radio system linking a number of retailers in the main shopping area which allows them to advise of any incidents within the town centre.
