WHO ARE WE ?
East Ayrshire Woodlands is a partnership initiative comprising organisations
representing forestry, economic development and conservation interests
within the unitary authority area of East Ayrshire Council.
Initial lottery funding for the first four years of the project was secured
through the Millennium Forest for Scotland Trust and through the European
Social Fund via the Strathclyde European Partnership. Currently, key funding
is sourced through the European Social Fund, the European Regional Development
Fund, East Ayrshire Coalfield Area Social Inclusion Partnership and the
Forestry Commission, with many other funders approached on a project by
project basis.
A full-time team based in Cumnock administers the project and is guided
by a management board comprising representatives of Enterprise Ayrshire,
East Ayrshire Council, The Forestry Commission, Scottish Natural Heritage,
the Scottish Wildlife Trust and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.
Our aim is to contribute to Ayrshire’s economic, social and environmental
prosperity through working with communities in the sustainable management
and enhancement of Ayrshire’s native woodland resource.
